Spellbinders- Say Cheese Classic Pooh Birthday Collection

Hello crafty friends!

I’m so excited to share even more projects I’ve been working on, all featuring the adorable Say Cheese Classic Pooh Birthday Collection from Spellbinders. This collection is truly a joy to work with, perfect for creating cards and scrapbook layouts for special occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries, especially for those who adore Pooh and his friends.

You might have seen some of my creations recently on the Spellbinders blog as a guest designer (if not, you can check them out [here ]. But today, I’m thrilled to bring you three brand new cards that I created specifically for my blog, continuing the birthday celebration with some beloved characters like Tigger and Eeyore!

A special touch I added to all three of these cards is the sentiment, created using the A Very Happy Birthday Sentiments Press Plate & Die with beautiful white hot foiling on black cardstock. This sentiment set is truly versatile!

Tigger's Wish

Let’s start with my first card! I put together this cheerful design featuring Winnie the Pooh’s bouncy friend, Tigger, making a wish on his birthday cupcake. I think it’s just perfect for celebrating a very happy birthday!

Products Used:

  1. Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folderfor the background texture

  2. Scallop & Stitched Edge Oval Diefor the central white oval layer

  3. Tiggler & Eeyore Diefor the Tigger character

  4. Woo Hoo Die Set (from the Say Cheese Classic Pooh Birthday Collection) – for the party hat and cupcake

  5. A Very Happy Birthday Sentiments Press Plate & Diefor the sentiment

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Background: I started by taking a piece of white cardstock and embossing it using the Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folder.

  2. Color the Background: Next, I used a blending brush to gently apply light blue ink over the embossed background, allowing the raised areas to remain lighter or subtly colored for a dreamy effect.

  3. Add Highlights: With a white gel pen, I added highlights to the embossed balloons and other raised areas on the background for added dimension and detail.

  4. Create the Oval Layer: I die-cut an oval from white cardstock using the Scallop & Stitched Edge Oval Die. I then adhered this oval layer to the center of my prepared background with liquid adhesive.

  5. Die-cut Tigger: I used the Tiggler & Eeyore Die to die-cut all the pieces for Tigger from orange, black, and white cardstock scraps. I then assembled and adhered the pieces together.

  6. Shade Tigger for Dimension: To give Tigger more depth, I used a blending brush and a suitable ink color (a slightly darker orange) to gently add shading to Tigger’s edges and contours, making him appear more three-dimensional.

  7. Create the Party Hat & Cupcake: From the Woo Hoo Die Set, I selected a party hat die and cut it from patterned cardstock, assembling and adhering it to Tigger’s head. I then used the cupcake die from the same set to cut out the base and frosting from brown and white cardstock, assembling it with some decorative sprinkles. I adhered the cupcake next to Tigger.

  8. Mount Tigger: I applied foam adhesive to the back of the assembled Tigger and adhered him onto the white oval layer, positioning him to appear lively and excited.

  9. Create the Sentiment: For the sentiment, I hot foiled “make a wish” onto a piece of black cardstock using the A Very Happy Birthday Sentiments Press Plate & Die with white hot foil. Then, I used the coordinating die to die-cut the sentiment.

  10. Add the Sentiment: I adhered the die-cut sentiment onto the white oval layer, near Tigger.

Finally, I adhered the completed card front onto a folded white card base.

Eeyore's Special Day

With this card, I wanted to create something truly special for Eeyore! It features him with a birthday cake and wearing a party hat, all ready to celebrate his special day.

  2. Tutu cardstock – for the frame
  3. Postage Edge Rectangles Dies – for the frame
  4. Tiggler & Eeyore Die – for the Eeyore character
  5. Woo Hoo Die Set (from the Say Cheese Classic Pooh Birthday Collection) – for the party hat and birthday cake
  6. A Very Happy Birthday Sentiments Press Plate & Die – for the sentiment

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Background: I began by embossing a piece of white cardstock using the Past Month Club Embossing Folder: Candles for Every Birthday EOM-May 23. This creates a beautiful textured background.

  2. Create the Frame: I then die-cut a frame from Tutu cardstock using the Postage Edge Rectangles Dies. I adhered this frame over my embossed white background.

  3. Die-cut Eeyore: I used the Tiggler & Eeyore Die to die-cut all the pieces for Eeyore from blue and black cardstock scraps. I assembled and adhered the pieces together.

  4. Shade Eeyore for Dimension: To add depth, I used blending brushes and suitable ink colors (a slightly darker blue) to gently apply shading to Eeyore’s edges and contours, giving him a more three-dimensional appearance. I also added a small pink bow to his tail.

  5. Create the Party Hat & Birthday Cake: I used a party hat die from the Woo Hoo Die Set and cut it from colored cardstock, assembling and adhering it to Eeyore’s head. For the cake, I used the birthday cake die from the same Woo Hoo Die Set to cut out the layers, frosting, and candles from various colored cardstock. I assembled the cake with lit candles on top and adhered it onto the embossed white panel, near Eeyore.

  6. Create the Sentiment: On a piece of black cardstock, I hot foiled “it’s your special day!” using the A Very Happy Birthday Sentiments Press Plate & Die with white hot foil. Then, I used the coordinating die to die-cut the sentiment.

  7. Add the Sentiment: I adhered the die-cut sentiment below Eeyore on the card front.

I considered adding any additional small embellishments to complete the scene.

Birthday Gathering

My goal with this card was to create something truly special, so I featured a charming vintage-style illustration. I feel it’s perfect for celebrating cherished moments. This card depicts a charming birthday gathering with Christopher Robin and all his friends around a birthday table, designed to evoke the feeling of an artful sketchbook page.

  1. Products Used:
  2. Celebration Moments Press Platesfor the central illustrated image

  3. Torn Paper Edges Diesto create the “torn from sketchbook” look for the main image panel

  4. Field Notes Tool Die Setfor the pencil die-cuts

  5. A Very Happy Birthday Sentiments Press Plate & Diefor the sentiment

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Main Illustration: I started by inking the Celebration Moments Press Plates with black ink onto a piece of watercolor cardstock. Using my BetterPress System, I pressed the image, and then used watercolors to color in the illustration as desired.

  2. Create the Torn Edge Effect: After coloring, I used the Torn Paper Edges Dies to die-cut my watercolor illustration panel. This gave it that unique look of a page torn right from a sketchbook!

  3. Create the Base Layers: I adhered a piece of black cardstock to my card base. Then, I cut a slightly smaller panel of black cardstock and adhered it on top.

  4. Mount the Illustration Panel: I applied foam adhesive to the back of my torn-edge watercolor illustration panel and adhered it onto the black cardstock layer, slightly off-center for visual interest and to create depth.

  5. Create the Pencils: From the Field Notes Tool Die Set, I die-cut several pencil shapes from various colored cardstock scraps to resemble colored pencils and regular pencils.

  6. Add the Pencils: I arranged and adhered the die-cut pencils onto the black background, around the illustration panel, as if they were scattered on a desk.

  7. Create the Sentiment: On a piece of black cardstock, I hot foiled “a day spent with you is my favorite day” using the A Very Happy Birthday Sentiments Press Plate & Die with white hot foil. Then, I used the coordinating die to die-cut the sentiment.

  8. Add the Sentiment: I adhered the die-cut sentiment onto the black cardstock, near the illustration panel.

  9. Final Touches: I also considered adding any additional small embellishments to finish the card.

I’m truly delighted with how these cards turned out, and I believe this collection offers endless possibilities for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions for all who cherish Pooh and his wonderful friends. I sincerely hope my creations have provided you with plenty of inspiration for your next crafting project!

Happy crafting!
