Spellbinders- Country Christmas Collection III

Hello, wonderful crafters!

I am delighted to share three new projects today, all featuring the charming Spellbinders Country Christmas Collection. This collection is filled with delightful dies and plates that evoke a cozy, rustic holiday feel, and I had a great deal of fun bringing these ideas to life.

Card 1: Whimsical Country Snowman

My first card features the adorable Country Snowman Die. This die set is fantastic for creating a charming winter scene!

  • I started by creating the snowy hills for my snowman using the Color Block Scenic Scape Die set. For a touch of sparkle, I die-cut these hills from Antique White Treasured Cardstock, which has a beautiful glitter finish.

  • The snowman himself was die-cut from white glitter cardstock, and I added details like his hat, scarf, and stick arms using various colored cardstocks. The little welcome sign and bird are such sweet additions from the die set!

For the sentiment, I used the Country Christmas Banners & Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set. I hot foiled the “Season’s Greetings” sentiment in white onto Poppy Card Stock and then die-cut it for a crisp, festive banner.

The snowy background for this card has a little story! When I made a card for the previous North Pole Collection, I discovered a neat trick to get two backgrounds from one foiling session. I first hot foiled the Snowfall Shimmer BetterPress Plate onto white cardstock using silver foil. Then, I took the leftover negative foil from that process and hot foiled it onto another piece of white cardstock using the Solid Rectangle Plate. This allowed me to create two unique backgrounds without wasting any foil. This particular card showcases the latter background, which has a beautiful silver shimmer as the main color.

This card just radiates winter charm, perfect for sending warm holiday wishes!

Card 2: Elegant Christmas Horse-Drawn Wagon

For my second card, I focused on the elegant Christmas Horse-Drawn Wagon Die. This die is incredibly detailed and perfect for a classic holiday scene.

I began by creating my background panel. I hot foiled the Snowfall Shimmer BetterPress Plate onto Anchor Card Stock using Matte Gold Hot Foil. The gold shimmer on the dark gray background creates a sophisticated and festive look.

  • Next, I die-cut a panel from white cardstock using the Perfect Rectangle Die. This white panel was then adhered on top of the foiled background, creating a clean frame for my wagon.

  • The star of the show, the Christmas horse-drawn wagon, was die-cut from various colored cardstocks, assembling all the intricate pieces. I then attached the fully assembled wagon onto the white panel using foam adhesive for added dimension.

For the sentiment, I used the same Country Christmas Banners & Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set. I hot foiled “Season’s Greetings” in Matte Gold Hot Foil onto black cardstock and then die-cut it. Finally, I attached this sentiment with foam adhesive to complete the card.

I love the blend of traditional elements with the touch of modern elegance in this card!

Card 3: Charming Country Christmas Barn

My third card features the versatile Country Christmas Barn Die. This barn is simply delightful, and for this version, I decided to make it in a vibrant red!

  1. The main barn structure was die-cut from Poppy Card Stock, giving it that classic red barn look. The roof was made from gray cardstock, and the snow accents from white.

  2. For the background, I used a blending brush to apply blue ink onto white cardstock, creating a soft, ethereal sky. This subtle sky really makes the red barn pop!

  3. I adorned the barn with white snow accents on the roof and ledges, along with colorful string lights and a green wreath with a red bow.

  4. For the trees, I die-cut several in various greens. I took the two largest trees and cut them in half lengthwise, adhering them behind the barn to create a sense of depth and a forest peeking out. The smaller trees were placed on the front of the barn. I also added tiny red crystal gems to the tree inside the barn for a festive, twinkling effect.

  5. The sentiment, “Country Christmas Wishes,” was hot foiled in black onto a light blue banner and adhered to the top of the card.

This barn card actually incorporates a pop-up element, similar to the one I detailed in my recent Country Christmas Pop-Up Barn Tutorial. To create this dimensional effect, I cut a piece of white cardstock to 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ and scored it at 3/4″, 3″, 3 3/4″, and 6″ to form a rectangular box. After securing the ends, I first adhered my blue ink-blended background panel to a standard A2 card base. Then, I flattened the pop-up box, applied adhesive to one side (making sure the fold lines faced up), and adhered it to the background, about 1/4″ from the bottom edge. Finally, I applied adhesive to the top of the flattened pop-up box and adhered the assembled barn on top. This allows the barn to pop forward beautifully when the card is opened!
