Celebrate Spring with the New Simon Hurley Collection!
Hello, crafty friends! Today is a very special day because the Happy Spring Collection by Simon Hurley has officially launched! I am so excited to show you a closer look at a project featuring the In Bloom Egg Etched Dies. This die set is absolutely perfect for creating unique, shaped cards for the spring season.
The Mint Floral Egg
To create this card, I focused on soft textures and delicate ink blending to make the floral details stand out.
Base & Shading:
I started by die-cutting the main egg shape from mint cardstock. To give it depth, I blended Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide ink around the edges, creating a soft vignette effect.
The Foliage:
I die-cut the intricate vine and leaf overlay from crisp white cardstock and carefully adhered it onto the mint egg base.
Floral Details: For the flowers, I die-cut them separately from white cardstock. I used a light pink ink to color just the centers of each bloom for a soft, natural look.
Embellishments:
For the flower centers, I used bright yellow Altenew Enamel Dots. I then scattered Antique Gold accents around the rest of the design for a touch of luxury.
The Finishing Touch:
I added a beautiful pink bow, which I die-cut using the ribbon die from the Gorgeous You Perfume Bottle set. It fits perfectly at the top of the egg!
The sentiment “Sending Springtime Smiles” is from this month’s Clear Stamp & Die of the Month Club, adding the perfect final greeting to this festive card.
Mixing and Matching for a Floral Spring Bloom
The soft coral and mint tones in this second card are absolutely dreamy! Combining different cardstock colors with custom ink blending really brings those florals to life.
I wanted to show you how versatile these dies can be when you mix them with other favorites from your stash. This In Bloom Egg card uses a warm, coral-toned palette that feels like a sunny spring morning.
The Base:
I die-cut the main egg shape from Bellini cardstock. The soft peach tone provides a beautiful, warm background for the floral elements.
Spring Vines:
For the vines and leaves, I used mint cardstock. The contrast between the mint and the Bellini base creates a very fresh, garden-like feel.
Layered Florals: This is where the magic happens! I die-cut the flowers using a combination of Dahlia, white, and Beeswax cardstock. To add more dimension, I applied ink coloring to the petals before layering them onto the egg.
The Sentiment: I used this month’s “Ears to Spring” Clear Stamp Set and Coordinating Die set. I stamped the sentiment on coral cardstock and finished it with white heat embossing to make the text pop.
Finishing Touches:
For a bit of shine, I embellished the card with Altenew Aqua Island Enamel Dots (ALT10450). These little minty accents tie the whole color scheme together perfectly.
I love how the mix of different cardstock colors gives this card a rich, textured look!
I hope this gives you some ideas for mixing your favorite cardstock colors with the new collection. Happy crafting!
