Spellbinders | Cozy Toes Friends Collection
Hi friends,
Today I’m sharing a trio of fun and cozy easel cards featuring the Spellbinders Cozy Toes Friends Collection — the brand-new Add-On set designed to coordinate perfectly with last year’s October 2024 Large Die of the Month, “Cozy Toes Slippers.”
This add-on introduces three adorable slipper friends — a cow, a unicorn, and a shark — each with its own playful personality.
I wanted to highlight how these new dies can bring fresh life to a previous favorite, so I combined them with embossed textures, layered details, and a slightly modified easel fold that lets the slippers remain visible even when the card is closed.
It’s such a joy to see how these old and new collections work together — cozy, cute, and full of charm! Let’s take a closer look at each design.
🩵 About the Easel Base
Each card base starts with a piece of cardstock cut to 11″ x 4¼”, scored at 5½”, and then again at 2¾”.
Unlike a traditional easel card that folds inward, I folded the 2¾” section outward so that even when the card is closed, the inside design still peeks through.
Embossed panels were added to the front, then layered with pajama and slipper die-cuts from both the Cozy Toes Slippers Large Die Set and the Cozy Toes Friends Add-On Dies.
Inside each card, a textured “floor” or “rug” panel grounds the slippers and gives the design a realistic, homey feel.
🐄 Cow Slippers Card
The cow slippers are definitely the coziest of the bunch!
I started with an 11″ x 4¼” card base, scored at 5½” and 2¾”, then folded the front section outward.
For the floor, I cut a woodgrain patterned paper to 2¾” x 4½”, stamped the sentiment from the Cozy Toes Friends Clear Stamp Set with VersaMark Ink, and heat-embossed it in white.
This panel was adhered inside the card to serve as the “floor.”
The upper panel was cut from Seaside cardstock, embossed with the Linen 3D Embossing Folder from the Texture & Foliage Collection, and attached to the top half of the card.
The slippers were die-cut with the Cozy Toes Slippers and Cozy Toes Friends sets, layering cream, pink, and black cardstock to bring the sweet little cows to life.
A small flower die-cut was added between the slippers with foam tape, acting as a stopper to keep the easel upright.
To ensure stability, I reinforced the base beneath the floor panel with extra layers of cardstock.
🦄 Unicorn Slippers Card
The unicorn slippers card feels bright, cheerful, and full of soft pastel magic.
For the background, I used gray cardstock cut to 2¾” x 4½” and embossed it with the Tiny Heart Scallop 3D Embossing Folder of the Month DEC24— creating a sweet, heart-filled pajama backdrop.
For the rug, I die-cut Beeswax cardstock using the Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals Etched Dies, embossed it with the Linen 3D Embossing Folder, and added a second oval trimmed to 2¾” in height for a layered, quilted look.
The raised embossed texture of this “rug” also helps hold the card upright when displayed — a subtle but functional detail I love adding.
The sentiment “Birthday Wishes” comes from the Very Best Wishes Sentiments Clear Stamp & Die Set, heat-embossed in gold, then die-cut and attached with foam tape near the bottom.
To finish the look, I added a pink heart die-cut (from Parcel & Post Heart Decorations Etched Dies) between the slippers, popped up with foam tape to serve as an extra stopper.
🦈 Shark Slippers Card
The shark slippers card brings a splash of ocean fun to this cozy trio — playful, bold, and full of movement.
For the background, I used Breeze cardstock embossed with the Underwater Waltz 3D Embossing Folder of the Month (cut to 2¾” x 4½”).
The bubbles and wave details add wonderful depth and texture, creating a perfect ocean scene behind the slippers.
The rug area was made using Indigo cardstock with the Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals Etched Dies and Linen 3D Embossing Folder, forming a deep navy “mat” that anchors the composition.
Just like the previous cards, the embossed surface naturally acts as a stopper, helping the card stand open.
For the sentiment, I used the Shine Bright Sentiment Strips Press Plate & Die Set, hot-foiled with Matte Silver foil on Indigo cardstock.
After die-cutting, I adhered the strip with foam tape just below the slippers for a polished finish.
These slipper cards were such a delight to make — each one tells its own cozy little story!
I love how the Cozy Toes Friends Add-On Dies breathe new life into last year’s Cozy Toes Slippers Large Die Set, proving that great designs can always grow with fresh ideas and textures.
