Creating a Shaped Wedding Cake Card feat. Spellbinders Classic Mouse Wedding Collection

Today, I am thrilled to share a uniquely sweet wedding card that is shaped just like a beautiful wedding cake! This project features the wonderful Classic Mouse Wedding Collection from Spellbinders, paired with a gorgeous mint and pink color palette. If you love interactive or uniquely shaped cards that stand out, this cake-shaped creation is sure to inspire your next crafting session. Let’s take a closer look at how it was made!

  • Creating the Patterned Backdrop: I started with a piece of crisp white cardstock and applied the adorable Happiest Place Press + Foil Plate. I hot foiled the design using a lovely mint foil from the Satin Pastels Variety Pack Glimmer Foil to create a beautifully shimmering patterned background.

  • Shaping the Cake: To transform this foiled background into a realistic cake, I cut it out using the main cake die from the Ganache Gateau Etched Dies. I also used a soft mint cardstock to die-cut the piped frosting details, layering them at the top and bottom to frame the cake perfectly.

Dressing Up the Cake Top: Next, I gathered some delightful miniature decorations from the Classic Mouse Wedding Accessories Etched Dies. I die-cut and assembled a multi-tiered wedding cake accented with tiny hearts, a champagne bottle, elegant champagne flutes, and a large flowing pink bow to place right on top of the cake.

Adding the Sentiment: For the sweet message, I turned to the Classic Mouse Wedding Sentiments Press + Foil Plate & Die Set. I hot foiled the “happily ever after” sentiment in a stunning silver finish, die-cut it, and attached it near the center using foam adhesive for some dimensional pop.

Assembling the Card Base: To wrap it all up, I constructed a custom card base cut into the exact shape of the cake, adhering the decorated panel to the front so that the entire card itself opens up like a beautiful wedding confection!

Making a shaped card is always a wonderful way to add a touch of whimsy and joy to a special occasion.
