Vibrant Coneflowers with Simon Hurley’s Flowing Florals
Hello, crafty friends! Today, I am back to share another card featuring the wonderful Timeless Textures collection by Simon Hurley for Spellbinders. This time, I focused on creating a beautiful focal frame using the Flowing Florals 3D Embossing Folder to give the project a soft, textured background backdrop.
Preparing the Embossed Background
Start with a piece of Cascade cardstock to create a serene, sky-blue background backdrop.
Place the cardstock inside the Flowing Florals 3D Embossing Folder and run it through your die-cutting machine to press the delicate, swirling floral pattern into the paper.
Creating the Dimensional Frame
Die-cut a piece of smooth white cardstock using the decorative edge from the Playful Stitched Panels Etched Dies.
Pop this unique frame up over your embossed Cascade panel using foam stickers to create an instant sense of depth and shadow.
Crafting the Wild Coneflowers
Use the Wild Coneflowers Etched Dies by Simon Hurley to cut out all your floral elements.
Die-cut the stems and leaves from Fern cardstock to get a rich, natural green base.
Die-cut the coneflower petals from white cardstock, then use a blending brush to apply a vibrant, deep pink ink for a beautiful gradient effect.
For the flower centers (cones), die-cut them and add rich color variation using markers to mimic the textured details of real coneflowers.
Tuck the assembled stems and blooms inside your framed window scene.
Adding the Bold Sentiment
To finish the card, use the Big & Bold Sentiments Etched Dies by Simon Hurley.
Die-cut the “Hello” script from white cardstock, and die-cut the coordinating outline backdrop from black cardstock.
Glue the pieces together to give the greeting a high-contrast shadow layer, then adhere it over the stems at the bottom of the frame.
I love how the soft, intricate details of the Flowing Florals embossing folder contrast with the vibrant pink of the coneflowers! Framing the flowers makes them look like they are popping right out of a garden window. Thank you so much for joining me today. I would love to hear your thoughts on this bright summer color palette in the comments below!
Happy Crafting, Heejung
