Spreading Holiday Joy with a Festive Shaker Card!

I am back today with another exciting card featuring the brand-new Home for the Holiday Collection from Hero Arts! Shaker cards are always an absolute favorite of mine to make—there’s just something so magical and interactive about them that instantly spreads holiday cheer.

Today, I’m showing you how to turn a bold word die-cut into a playful, peppermint-filled shaker card!

Preparing the Shaker Panel: I started with a sheet of light, frosty Ocean Seaside cardstock cut down to $4 \times 5.25\text{ inches}$. Using the large “JOY” die from the Hero Arts Winter Wreath Die Set, I die-cut the word right in the center of this panel.

  • Creating the Shaker Windows: On the back of the die-cut panel, I adhered a piece of Spellbinders Glimmer Specialty Clear Film Sheet to cover all three letter openings.

  • Building the Shaker Walls: To turn each letter into its own independent shaker compartment, I carefully applied foam adhesive strips around the outer rectangular perimeter on the back of the panel. I then took extra care to seal off the gaps between the J, O, and Y with foam tape, ensuring no shaker bits could escape or migrate between the letters.

  • Filling and Assembling: Inside each of the enclosed letter walls, I placed a generous amount of Buttons Galore & More Merry And Bright Sprinkletz Embellishments (full of adorable little clay peppermint swirls!). I then removed the backing of the foam tape and mounted the entire panel onto a vibrant Poppy cardstock card base to make those red and green shaker pieces pop.

  • Embellishing the “O”: Using Fern cardstock, I die-cut a miniature wreath from the Hero Arts Winter Wreath Die Set and placed it right over the “O” window. I then die-cut a sweet, bright red bow using the Hero Arts Winter Wreath Accessories Die Set and adhered it to the top of the wreath. To add some gorgeous sparkle, I dotted the wreath with Spellbinders Red Mix Color Essential Gems.

Adding the Sentiment: For the perfect holiday greeting, I chose a sentiment from the Hero Arts Season’s Greetings Stamp Set. I stamped “SENDING COZY CHRISTMAS WISHES” onto Poppy cardstock, heat-embossed it with white embossing powder for a clean, raised look, die-cut it, and adhered it right below the “JOY” windows.

I love how the sweet little peppermint shaker pieces dance inside the letters, and the miniature wreath is the perfect festive touch to tie it all together! I hope this project gets you excited to start crafting your own interactive holiday designs.

Happy Crafting,

Heejung
