Charming Winter Cardinal “Season’s Greetings” Card

Hello, crafting friends! Today, I’m excited to share a bright and cheerful winter card featuring the beautiful calligraphy from the Upright Italic Holiday Sentiments Press + Foil Bundle by Paul Antonio. For this card, I combined the elegant Upright Italic Season’s Greetings Press + Foil Plate with a adorable winter cardinal and a beautiful snowy background.

Before we dive into the details, I have a fantastic tip for you! The gorgeous Starry Snowfall 3D Embossing Folder I used for this card is from last year’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month Club, and it is currently on sale for 50% off at the Spellbinders Club! It is such a steal for adding incredible winter texture to your projects.

Creating the Textured Background: I began by embossing a piece of Windy ColorWheel Cardstock with the Starry Snowfall 3D Embossing Folder. To make the beautiful snowflake details pop, I used a Spellbinders large blending brush to blend a lovely blue ink around the edges, keeping the center slightly lighter for a soft glow.

The Sentiment: I took the Upright Italic Season’s Greetings Press + Foil Plate and ran it through my BetterPress system using a vibrant red ink. The crisp, calligraphic red sentiment stands out beautifully against the blue background! I then die-cut the sentiment using the Essential Modern Ovals Etched Dies (from the Sealed for Summer Collection) and popped it onto the card base with foam adhesive for dimension.

Assembling the Cardinal: Next, I die-cut the adorable Conrad Cardinal from the Dancin’ Christmas Friends Collection using a festive mix of cardstock: Poppy, Acorn, Carrot, Blush, and Blush. I assembled him and perched him right on the edge of the sentiment oval.

Adding Snowflakes: To complete this winter scene, I die-cut several delicate white snowflakes using this month’s Small Die of the Month Club kit, “Snow Much Fun”. I scattered these snow crystals around the background for a perfect finishing touch!

The contrast between the soft blue inked background and the bold red of the cardinal and BetterPress sentiment makes this card feel so cozy and festive! Don’t forget to check out the club sales to grab that beautiful embossing folder while it’s still 50% off.
