DIY Ugly Christmas Sweater Card with Spellbinders July Clubs!
Hello crafting friends! Today, I’m so excited to share a festive, shaped card that mimics a cozy “ugly Christmas sweater” using the fantastic Spellbinders July 2026 Club Kits! This card is full of rich textures and interactive fun, perfect for getting a head start on your holiday crafting.
Creating the Cozy Sweater Base
Start with a panel of Fern cardstock for the main body of the sweater.
To create the scoop neckline, use a semi-oval/circle die to cut out the top section.
Next, run it through your die-cutting machine using this month’s Embossing Folder Club kit, “Snuggly Knit”. Tip: Carefully align the cut neckline so the cable knit patterns run perfectly and symmetrically around the curve before embossing!
For the unique card base, cut your matching cardstock to follow the sweater shape. Because this card opens from the bottom up, ensure the top fold lines up with the shoulders, leaving the open neckline free of a fold line.
Adding the Trim & Ribbed Edges
To create the ribbed look for the collar and the bottom trim, use Poppy cardstock.
Die-cut the sweater neckline trim using the (now retired) Fluted Classic Ovals die set.
For the bottom edge hem of the sweater, die-cut a strip using the Fluted Classic Rectangles die set and adhere it firmly to the bottom edge of the card.
Assembling Santa & The Sentiment
Die-cut the adorable waving Santa Claus using the July Large Die Club kit, “Merry Shuffle”. Assemble his pieces and attach him right to the center of the sweater using foam stickers for some fun dimension!
For the sentiment, grab the July Clear Stamp & Die Club kit, “Cue the Merry”. Stamp your greeting onto Poppy cardstock, apply white embossing powder, and heat set it.
Die-cut the sentiment with its matching die and pop it up right below Santa with foam stickers to complete the card.
