A Burst of Sunshine: Stitched Sunshine Card
Hello, everyone! I’m so excited to share today’s project, which is all about spreading joy with a little bit of needle and thread. I used the Spellbinders May 2026 Stitched Die of the Month Club set, Stitched Sunshine, and it has quickly become one of my favorite designs!
To start, I die-cut the sunburst design from white cardstock. I wanted a soft, ethereal look, so I used blending brushes to add a light ink-blended glow around the edges of the panel. Then, I stitched the rays using a vibrant yellow thread, which adds such a beautiful, tactile texture that you just want to touch!
For the center, I created the sun’s face using a circle die. I used different shades of yellow ink to blend a soft gradient, giving the sun a sweet, dimensional appearance. To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment from the May Clear Stamp & Die of the Month (Burst of Summer), heat-embossed it in black, and popped it up for a clean, professional finish.
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Die-cut the Stitched Sunshine design onto a white cardstock panel.
Step 2: Use blending brushes to apply soft, vibrant ink around the edges of the panel for a “glow” effect.
Step 3: Stitch the sun rays using yellow thread to create the focal texture.
Step 4: Die-cut the sun’s face, then blend various shades of yellow ink to create a realistic, dimensional look.
Step 5: Stamp the sentiment from the Burst of Summer set in black ink, die-cut it, and attach it to the panel.
Step 6: Assemble the sun face and sentiment onto the stitched background.
I hope this card brings a little bit of brightness and “a burst of happy” to your day! There is something so therapeutic about stitching on paper—it really is the perfect way to slow down and create something special. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I hope you feel inspired to stitch some sunshine of your own!
Happy Crafting, Heejung
