Refreshing Summer Vibes: Poolside Reflections

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re ready for some summer refreshment because today’s project is all about those relaxing poolside days. I’m featuring the Spellbinders May 2026 Embossing Folder of the Month, appropriately named Poolside. I wanted to capture that magical, glistening look of sunlight dancing on water, and I’m so happy with how this turned out!

I started by embossing a piece of Breeze cardstock with the Poolside folder. To create the depth of a swimming pool, I used various shades of blue inks to blend the water color. The real secret to that shimmering effect? I used a white gel pen to trace the raised embossed lines of the water pattern, which makes it look exactly like light reflecting off the surface!

To add a touch of summery sweetness, I die-cut some oranges and leaves from the May Large Die of the Month Club (Pop of Summer) and arranged them as if they were floating peacefully on the water. Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the May Clear Stamp & Die of the Month (Burst of Summer) and popped it up with foam tape to complete this tranquil scene.

Step-by-Step Process

  • Step 1: Emboss a Breeze cardstock panel using the Poolside 3D Embossing Folder.

  • Step 2: Apply multiple shades of blue ink over the embossed panel to create the look of deep, clear pool water.

  • Step 3: Use a white gel pen to carefully highlight the raised embossed lines, mimicking the sunlight reflection on the water’s surface.

  • Step 4: Die-cut the orange slices and leaves from the Pop of Summer Large Die set and assemble them.

  • Step 5: Arrange the “floating” fruit and leaves on the pool panel.

  • Step 6: Stamp the sentiment, die-cut it, and attach it to the center of the card using foam adhesive for dimension.

There is something so incredibly calming about the water, and I love how this card captures that peaceful “poolside” feeling.
