April Small Die of the Month: Pansy Seed Co. Watercolor Card
Hello, crafty friends! April is finally here, and I am so excited to begin sharing projects featuring the new April Club Collections from Spellbinders. To kick things off, I have a vibrant, floral card created with the April 2026 Small Die of the Month Club (Pansy Seed Co. Die Set).
For this project, I really wanted to capture the natural beauty of real pansies. Instead of using colored cardstock for the blooms, I die-cut the petals from watercolor cardstock and hand-painted each one. This allowed me to achieve those characteristic gradients and deep tones that make pansies so unique.
The background is a soft, serene Seaside cardstock, which makes the bright colors of the flowers pop. I die-cut the leaves from Rainforest cardstock and tucked the bouquet into a pot made from Carrot cardstock. To finish the design, I used the April 2026 BetterPress/Hot Foil Club (Seeds Co.). I hot foiled the sentiment in white onto black cardstock and popped it up with foam adhesive for a clean, high-contrast look.
Die-Cutting & Watercoloring: Die-cut the pansy layers from watercolor cardstock. Use your favorite watercolors to add detail to the petals, mimicking the natural patterns of real pansies.
Assembly: Die-cut the leaves and flower pot. Layer the painted petals to assemble the flowers and arrange them inside the pot.
Background: Cut a panel of Seaside cardstock. Add decorative white border die-cuts to the top and bottom to frame the central image.
Sentiment: Using the Seeds Co. plate, hot foil the sentiment in white on black cardstock. Use the coordinating die to cut it out.
Finishing Touches: Mount the flower pot and the sentiment using foam tape to add dimension to the card.
