Elegant Vintage Couture Dressform Birthday Card feat. Buttons & Keepsakes Collection
Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog. Today, I am super excited to share a beautiful, vintage-inspired card created using the gorgeous Buttons & Keepsakes Collection by Frank Garcia from Spellbinders. This collection features so many stunning, intricate details that make crafting an absolute joy. For this project, I paired rich, deep cardstock with shimmering gold accents and an elegant dressform to create a timeless, sophisticated look that is perfect for a special birthday celebration.
Creating the Background: I started with a piece of rich Oceanside ColorWheel Cardstock and ran it through the Haberdashery Buttons 3D Embossing Folder by Frank Garcia. To make the gorgeous embossed button details pop, I carefully colored the raised areas using an Uchida – DecoColor Premium Gold Metallic Marker.
Designing the Focal Frame: Next, I used a Nesting Oval die to die-cut clean white cardstock. I then embossed this oval panel using the exact same Haberdashery Buttons 3D Embossing Folder to give it a beautiful textured backdrop. For the outer frame, I used the Stitched Wall Hanging die (DOMST-Apr 24) to die-cut from Fawn cardstock. (Crafty tip: If you don’t have this specific die set, you can easily create a similar frame using two different sizes of the Nesting Oval dies!)
Assembling the Couture Dressform: To create the main focal point, I used the Couture Dressform Etched Dies by Frank Garcia. I die-cut the elegant metal stand, the dress bow, and the delicate sleeve trims from Matte Gold Metallic Cardstock. The main dressform base was die-cut from Alabaster ColorWheel Cardstock, and the stunning dress itself was cut from soft Chiffon cardstock. To give the skirt a lovely, voluminous look, I cut the skirt portion once more from Vellum cardstock, trimmed it out, and layered it directly onto the Chiffon dress before adhering the golden bow.
The Sentiment & Finishing Touches: For the final touch, I created the sentiment using the Heirloom Words Press + Foil Plate & Die Set by Frank Garcia. I applied matte gold hot foiling to the “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” sentiment, die-cut it, and popped it up onto the card using foam squares for wonderful depth and dimension.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this vintage dressform card gives you some fun inspiration for your next papercrafting project. The layers of textured buttons and gold foil accents truly make it feel so special and elegant. Happy crafting, and I’ll see you in the next post!
