Beat the Summer Heat with “Wiener-Ful” Fun! Featuring Hero Arts Hot Dog Stamp & Cut

Hello, crafty friends!

Whew, it is getting seriously hot outside lately! With this blazing summer heat, the last thing I want to do is spend hours cooking in a hot kitchen. So when my husband suggested we just make hot dogs this weekend, I couldn’t help but laugh—and it instantly reminded me of this adorable card I recently created!

If you are looking for a quick, fun, and absolutely “wiener-ful” project to beat the summer heat, this one is for you. Here is how I put it all together!

Preparing the Vibrant Teal Background & Sentiments

  • The Base: I chose a gorgeous, rich backdrop using Spellbinders Teal Topaz ColorWheel Cardstock. It gives the card such a cool, refreshing summer vibe.

  • The Top Title: At the top of the card base, I stamped the “HOT DIGGITY DOG” sentiment using VersaMark ink, coated it with white embossing powder, and heat-embossed it for a clean, crisp popped-out look.

  • The Bottom Sentiment: For the main greeting at the bottom, I stamped “YOU’RE WIENER-FUL” from the Hero Arts Many Franks Clear Stamp Set onto black cardstock. I heat-embossed it with white embossing powder, cut it into a sleek sentiment strip, and popped it up with foam stickers for added dimension.

Creating the Focal Window & Coloring the Images

  • The Oval Window: To anchor my main images, I die-cut a clean white oval from cardstock and adhered it right to the center of the teal base.

  • The Stamping & Coloring: Using the Hero Arts Hot Dog Stamp & Cut set, I stamped the adorable dachshund wearing a sweet little sweater, along with the hot dog, ketchup, and mustard bottles. I colored them all in with my markers to bring the scene to life, then used the matching dies to cut them out perfectly.

Assembling the Scene

  • I arranged the colored dachshund and the delicious hot dog platter inside the white oval window, layering them slightly to create a fun, cohesive cluster.

This card was so much fun to make, and it’s the perfect reminder that summer cooking (and crafting!) can be simple, playful, and delicious. What is your go-to weekend meal when it’s too hot to cook? Let me know in the comments!
