Hello Summer: A Refreshing Splash of Dots

Hello, everyone! I’m so excited to share today’s project, which is all about those bright, bubbly summer vibes. I wanted to create something that feels like a refreshing cold drink on a hot day, and this card perfectly captures that feeling!

For the background, I used the Spellbinders May 2026 Stencil of the Month Club (Dots of Summer) to create a fun, polka-dot pattern on white cardstock. I layered this over a vibrant Peridot cardstock base to make the colors really pop. To frame the design, I used the Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies from the Happy Hour Collection, which gives it such a clean, professional finish.

The focal point is the adorable soda can, die-cut using the May Large Die of the Month Club (Pop of Summer). I love how the bright pink can looks paired with the tropical watermelon and orange slices! I finished the design with the “HELLO” sentiment to make it the perfect, cheerful summer greeting.

Step-by-Step Process

  • Step 1: Create a card base using Peridot cardstock.

  • Step 2: Use the Dots of Summer Stencil and colorful inks to create a bright, dotted pattern on white cardstock.

  • Step 3: Die-cut the stenciled panel using the Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies and adhere it to the base.

  • Step 4: Die-cut the soda can, watermelon, orange, and straw elements from the May Large Die of the Month set using various cardstock colors. For maximum dimension, I ink-blended every single die-cut piece to make it look incredibly lifelike. I even added custom highlights with a white gel pen to make the soda can shine!

  • Step 5: For the sentiment, I used the May Clear Stamp & Die of the Month (Burst of Summer). I intentionally inked the stamp with blue-toned inks so that it would look like part of the soda can’s design, as if it were printed directly onto the can itself.

  • Step 6: As a final touch, add white enamel dots to give the card a polished, playful look.

I hope this card gives you a little burst of sunshine today! Mixing playful stencils with bold die-cuts and custom ink blending is such a fun way to celebrate the start of the summer season. Thank you so much for following along with my May club projects—I hope you feel inspired to create something bright and fun yourself!

Happy Crafting, Heejung
