Happy Halloween! Sweet Bee Memories with Spellbinders
Halloween is such a fun time for creating, but for me, it’s also a time filled with sweet nostalgia. Today, I’m sharing a card featuring the adorable Buzzy Pup-Bee etched dies from Spellbinders!
This costumed pup series actually started three years ago. The first set was a Ghost Costume, and the second was a Pumpkin Costume. Since my son wore a pumpkin costume when he was two years old, that second set immediately stole my heart and inspired me to start this fun personal crafting tradition. Making this card felt just like flipping through a family photo album—capturing a sweet yearly memory, just like taking a photo of a child in their Halloween costume every year!
For this card, I created a cozy front-porch scene similar to my Pumpkin card from last year, but updated the design and elements using a rich brick background and glowing details!
Creating the Textured Brick Wall:
To build the background, I embossed Anchor cardstock using the Brick by Brick 3D Embossing Folder of the Month from Spellbinders to create a realistic brick wall texture.
Assembling the Glowing Front Door:
I die-cut Raven cardstock using The Open House Door Base Die Set (one of my all-time favorite retired Spellbinders sets!). To give the illusion of a warm light shining from inside the house, I ink-blended yellow ink on cardstock and placed it behind the door’s window panes.
Building the Buzzy Pup-Bee:
Using the Buzzy Pup-Bee etched dies, I assembled the adorable pup using Fawn cardstock for the puppy and Holographic cardstock for the delicate wings. He looks ready to trick-or-treat with his little black cat candy bag!
Adding Details & Sentiment:
To finish the porch scene, I die-cut a spiderweb out of Holographic cardstock using the upcoming Halloween City Holiday Decorations Etched Dies by Yana Smakula (releasing August 10th!). For the sentiment, I used the Happy Halloween Sentiments Press + Foil Plate & Die Set by Yana Smakula to hot foil “HAPPY Halloween” with Matte Gold foil on Raven cardstock before die-cutting it and adhering it to the door.
