Hello everyone! I’m back with another project featuring the beautiful Simon Says Stamp May release, “Always There.” Today, I wanted to play with vibrant colors and dimension using some of my favorite items from this collection. This card is all about movement and bright, happy energy. Let’s get into the details!
The Background: I started by creating a soft, organic background using the Dot Petal Pattern Stencil. I used a light green ink and a blending brush, applying it with a gradient effect—starting with a deeper saturation at the bottom and gradually fading out toward the top for a clean, airy look.
The Butterflies: I die-cut the Dewpierce Butterfly four times from white cardstock. To give each butterfly its own personality, I used blending brushes to color them in different vibrant palettes.
Fine Details: After coloring, I used a white gel pen to add tiny dots on the wings. This small detail really makes the colors pop and adds a whimsical touch! I then attached them to the card base using foam stickers to give them a 3D, “ready to fly” appearance.
The Sentiment: For the sentiment, I chose the “HUGS” stamp from the Garden Greeting stamp set. I stamped it with VersaMark ink on black cardstock, coated it with white embossing powder, and heat-set it. Finally, I die-cut it into a circle to create a bold, clean focal point that anchors the butterflies.
I love how the colorful butterflies stand out against the soft green stenciled background. It feels like a fresh garden breeze! I hope this card brings a smile to your face and inspires you to try some gradient blending on your next project. Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Crafting!
