Swim. Snack. Repeat. : A Refreshing Summer Splash
Cool off with the cutest forest friends! Today, I’m wrapping up my summer series with a splashy card featuring a deer and a fox enjoying a day at the pool. By combining the Small Die of the Month with several playful die sets, I created a scene that’s all about summer fun, sweet treats, and relaxing in the sun. This card is a reminder to take a break and enjoy the “Summer Vibes!”
Creating the Water:
I used Windy Cardstock and embossed it with the EOM-JUN24 embossing folder to create beautiful, flowing waves. To give the water more depth, I used a blending brush to add various shades of blue ink, making the “pool” look vibrant and inviting.
The Floating Friends: The adorable fox is from the Trailside Trio set, and the sweet deer is from the Woodland Trio set. I dressed them in cute swimwear and gave the fox an ice cream cone, all die-cut from the Splash Days set.
Tube Time: For the floats, I used the duck tube and the classic inner tube from the Summertime Wade Pool (June 2024 Small Die of the Month). They fit our forest friends perfectly!
The Sentiments: I stamped the “SUMMER VIBES” and “SWIM. SNACK. REPEAT.” sentiments from the Summertime Sentiments set onto white cardstock using crisp black ink. I then die-cut them and attached them with foam stickers for a bit of dimension.
Finishing Touches: To mimic sparkling water droplets, I scattered several Aura Opalescent Color Essentials Sequins around the characters. The iridescent shimmer of these sequins adds the perfect magical touch to the splashing water.
Building this pool party scene was the perfect way to celebrate the summer season. Mixing different die sets and textures allowed me to create a story filled with joy and sunshine. I hope this series has inspired you to dive into your own summer crafting projects! See you in the next post!
