Proud as a Peacock: A Sweet Valentine Card

Hello again! I’m back with a second project featuring the latest Simon Says Stamp collection. Today, I’m sharing a whimsical Valentine-themed card using the adorable Sweet Peacock stamp set. These little peacocks are so charming, and I wanted to create a vibrant scene that really makes them shine!

How to Make This Card

1. Building the Layered Background For the foundation of the card, I used the Spellbinders Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag die to cut a panel of Cosmic Sky cardstock. To add a bright pop of contrast, I layered this over a Peridot cardstock backdrop, which perfectly complements the green tones in the peacocks’ feathers.

2. Coloring and Seamless Fussy Cutting I stamped the peacocks onto white cardstock and colored them with alcohol markers. To ensure they blended perfectly into the dark background, I used a clever trick: I colored the white edges of the die-cuts with a marker that matches the Cosmic Sky cardstock. This makes the images look like they were printed directly onto the dark blue panel!

3. Adding Highlights To give the peacocks a magical, glowing look, I used a white gel pen to add tiny dots and highlight details on their heads and tails. This adds a wonderful “shimmer” effect that mimics the iridescent nature of real peacocks.

4. The Heat Embossed Sentiment I chose the sweet sentiment “Proud as a peacock to be your Valentine” and stamped it using VersaMark ink. I applied White embossing powder and set it with a heat tool to create a crisp, bright white finish that stands out beautifully against the navy blue.

I hope these sweet little birds bring a smile to your face today! Thank you for stopping by.

Happy Crafting!
