Can you believe this isn’t a real dessert? Today, I’m sharing a project that looks sweet enough to eat! Using the Spellbinders Berry Best and Ganache Gateau collections, I crafted a 3D pop-up strawberry cake card. I even set the scene with a plate and fork because it looks so realistic! Let’s walk through how to create this paper masterpiece.
Step-by-Step Process
Vibrant Strawberries: I die-cut 7 strawberries from Sicily Cardstock using the Berry Best Die Set (S4-1432). To get that juicy look, I blended Altenew Crimson and Velvet Fresh Dye Inks, added shadows with OLO markers (R1.5, R17), and popped some highlights with a white colored pencil.
2. Chocolate & Cream Details: The “chocolate” sign was made with Truffle Cardstock and Documenting Labels dies, heat-embossed in white for a crisp contrast. The fluffy whipped cream was die-cut from the Ganache Gateau set to add texture.
3. The Pop-Up Mechanism: The key to this card is the alignment. I attached the cake body to the base, matching the edge to the fold line. The embossed circular cake top sits inside the window—I only glued below the fold line so it stands up perfectly when opened.

4. Final Assembly Secrets: I trimmed the bottom of the strawberries so they sit flat on the copper cake plate. For the chocolate topper, I built a hidden standing base so it stays upright. I cleverly hid the support with two strawberries and used a foam sticker for the final berry to add extra dimension!
Whether it’s folded flat or popping out to surprise someone, this card is sure to be the “Berry Best” gift. I hope you enjoyed this delicious paper crafting journey!
