Spellbinders 12 Days of Stitchmas 2025 Day1

DAY 1 – Ornament Tags

12 Days of Stitchmas 2025 Advent Calendar

Each December carries a quiet rhythm, and this year I’m sharing that rhythm one day at a time.
For the next twelve days, a new Stitchmas tag will unfold—twelve small keepsakes shaped from color, paper, and soft stitched details.
Day 1 begins with an ornament, bright as the first note of a winter melody, resting against layers of scrap papers and familiar pieces saved from past seasons.

The first tag began with the ornament from Day 1 of the Stitchmas Advent Calendar.
I die cut the ornament from Aquamarine Assorted Treasured Cardstock and Ruby Assorted Treasured Cardstock in matte metallic finishes.
I also cut the shape from white glitter cardstock and stitched each section with matching threads.
Layering these pieces added shimmer, texture, and a gentle holiday glow.

For the tag base, I used the Essential Envelope Every Day Add-Ons Etched Dies.
I pulled gray-tone scrap papers from my stash and trimmed them into 1/4″ strips, gluing them in rows to form a striped background.
This striped panel was then die cut again with the same envelope die, keeping the outline perfectly clean.

To create the window, I used the Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals Etched Dies, cutting an oval opening in the center to reveal the layered scrap-paper stripes beneath.
The stitched ornament was added above the window, becoming the quiet focal point of the tag.

The sentiment “JOYFUL NOEL” was made earlier for another project using the
Merry Messages Plate & Die Set – Wonderland Collection, hot foiled in gold on black cardstock.
I simply used one of the leftover foiled pieces—nothing new was created for this step.

The second tag carries a different kind of brightness: bold red, crisp white, and cool winter blue.
Its background began with a saved piece I created last year using the
Essential Tag Accessories Press Plates & Die Set.
I had hot foiled the holly design in white onto Poppy cardstock, set it aside, and never used it—until now.

To form the tag base, I used the 3-in-1 Tag Punch | Spellbinders to punch a 2 1/2″ wide tag from white cardstock.
The foiled red panel was layered on top, giving the background a clean, vivid contrast.

The ornament was die cut from Aquamarine Assorted Treasured Cardstock (matte metallic) and white glitter cardstock, then stitched with matching threads.
The finished piece was adhered to the red panel, letting the aquamarine stitching glow against the deep holiday red.

The “JOYFUL NOEL” sentiment is another leftover gold hot-foiled piece from the
Merry Messages Plate & Die Set – Wonderland Collection, used here to finish the tag.

Day 1 feels like a gentle beginning—proof that scraps, saved foiled pieces, and small stitched moments can bloom again when given a quiet place to shine.
Tomorrow brings Day 2, and another stitched memory ready to unfold.

Happy Crafting!
