Tag 1 – Embossed Panel Hat Tag
The first tag began with a forgotten piece: a panel embossed with the Holiday Flurry Embossing Folder from the October Embossing Folder Club. I had colored the snowflakes with a blending brush months ago but wasn’t happy with the result and saved the piece instead of using it.
For Day 8, I trimmed that panel to 2 1/2″ width, shaped the top using the 3-in-1 Tag Punch | Spellbinders, and added a leftover strip from Day 6 along the bottom edge.
The winter hat from Day 8 of the Stitchmas Advent Calendar was die cut from Cascade cardstock and Poppy cardstock, then stitched carefully to bring out the cozy details.
For the sentiment, I used a leftover gold hot-foiled piece created earlier with the Merry Messages Plate & Die Set – Wonderland Collection, foiled in white and die cut ahead of time.
The stitched hat sits warmly against the embossed snowflake background, a simple mix of saved textures and fresh color.
Tag 2 – Window Base Hat Tag
The second tag shares the same stitched hat design (Cascade + Poppy cardstock, stitched in matching thread), but the base was created the same way as Day 1— a layered stripe panel made from scraps, die cut with the Essential Envelope Every Day Add-Ons Etched Dies, and finished with an oval window.
The sentiment is identical to Tag 1—another leftover piece from the Merry Messages Plate & Die Set – Wonderland Collection. I had several foiled sentiments prepared, so I simply used another one here.
Two hats, two backgrounds, one quiet winter story.
Day 8 feels like a gentle reminder that scraps, saved panels, and small stitched shapes can bloom again when the moment is right. Tomorrow brings Day 9, ready to continue the season’s warmth.
Happy crafting, Heejung.
