Watercoloring the New Simon Says Stamp Graceful Swans
Hello, everyone! I’m so excited to share my latest card creation featuring the stunning new November release from Simon Says Stamp: the Graceful Swans stamp set. This set is absolutely enchanting and immediately made me reach for my watercolors to capture a scene of peaceful serenity.
For the main image, I stamped the gorgeous bridge, water, and swans onto high-quality watercolor paper. I then used my watercolors to bring the scene to life, focusing on vibrant blues and teals for the water to create a lovely, deep reflective pond effect.
To add dimension and a touch of realism, I practiced some “fussy cutting” (cutting out stamped images with scissors). I separately stamped and colored a few extra elements from the set—namely, the sweet bow adorning the bridge, the little bird in flight, and an extra swan. I colored these pieces with my favorite markers and then carefully cut them out and adhered them to the main watercolor panel using foam adhesive. This gave the entire piece wonderful lift and shadow, making the elements truly pop off the page.
And now for my favorite finishing touch: the gold picture frame!
I used the Spellbinders Linear Touch Rectangle and Tag Die set to die-cut a beautiful frame from luxurious gold metallic cardstock. I layered this over the watercolor panel with foam stickers to create a dimensional, rich picture frame effect.
My recent trip to France and visiting so many incredible art museums left a lasting impression on me. The classic elegance of gold frames around masterful paintings was unforgettable, and it reaffirmed my existing love for using them in my paper crafting. A gold frame instantly elevates any piece, turning a simple card into a work of art!
I am so pleased with how this serene scene turned out, framed in its beautiful gold border. I hope you feel the peace in the sentiment, “May your HEART be filled with PEACE.”
Thank you for stopping by! Happy crafting!
