Spellbinders-Buon Appetito Collection

I’m so excited to share three new cards I created using the Spellbinders Buon Appetito Collection, a truly delightful release for October! This collection is full of adorable, anthropomorphic Italian food elements that are perfect for creating fun, whimsical cards for any occasion.

For these projects, I primarily used four wonderful products from the collection:

  1. Al Dente 3D Embossing Folder

  2. Pasta Friends Etched Dies

  3. Ingredients Buddies Etched Dies

  4.  Stay Saucy Clear Stamp Set

More Spaghetti Less Upsetti

This card showcases a classic, comforting dish, carefully constructed to resemble my son’s favorite homemade spaghetti and meatballs!

I started with Cosmic Sky Cardstock for the background. The sentiment, “MORE SPAGHETTI LESS UPSETTI” from the Stay Saucy Clear Stamp Set, was heat embossed for a crisp, white look by stamping it with Versa Water Mark Ink and applying white embossing powder before using a heat tool.

The dinner plate was die-cut from white cardstock using the Fluted Classic Circles Die. The spaghetti strands were then die-cut from Beeswax color cardstock using the Pasta Friends Etched Dies.

The meatballs were die-cut using the  Ingredients Buddies Etched Dies. To give them a delicious, cooked, and dimensional appearance, I used a blending brush to color them with Raw Amber ink. For a final, mouth-watering touch, I used a white gel pen to add small dots, perfectly mimicking a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Die-cut mushrooms and basil leaves were layered on top as garnish.

To complete the setting, the fork was die-cut from Silver Metallic Cardstock to achieve a realistic, metallic look. I finished the card by adding a few Chameleon Opalescent Color Essentials Sequins for a touch of sparkle.

Mamma Mia!

This lively card was inspired by “The Dandy Tomato,” a beloved Korean children’s song my son loved when he was little! It perfectly captures the joy of those dancing tomatoes.

For the cheerful background, I created a tablecloth pattern by using the Buffalo Plaid Press Plate and inking it with Star Light Ink. I then used the Linear Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies to die-cut the pattern. This die-cut piece was placed diagonally on the card base, and I trimmed off the excess along the card edges.

The dancing characters—two happy tomatoes and a wedge of cheese—were created using the Ingredients Buddies Etched Dies. To emphasize the lively dance, I added musical notes die-cut from the Musical Notes & Stave Pop-Up Etched Dies (a release from last month’s collection).

Finally, the “MAMMA MIA” sentiment from the  Stay Saucy Clear Stamp Set was stamped in red ink, completing the image of these happy ingredients dancing to their own soundtrack!

Pasta La Vista, Happy Birthday

What a fun way to say Happy Birthday! For this design, I wanted to include as many of the cute pasta shapes as possible, so I went with a checkerboard layout to give each one its own frame.

I created the background by cutting squares of Cosmic Sky Cardstock and adhering them to white cardstock in a checkered pattern. I then embossed the entire background with the  Al Dente 3D Embossing Folder to give it a wonderfully textured, “al dente” feel!

Each unique pasta shape was die-cut using the Pasta Friends Etched Dies and then popped up onto its square using foam adhesive for dimension. I do feel a slight regret that I squeezed five pieces of pasta onto this card; perhaps four would have given the design a little more breathing room, but they are all too adorable to leave out!

The sentiments, “PASTA LA VISTA” and “HAPPY BIRTHDAY,” were stamped using the Stay Saucy Clear Stamp Set. I then used the coordinating die from the Sending Smiles Sentiments Stamp Die Set to perfectly die-cut the sentiments before adhering them to the card.

I hope you enjoyed this look at the new Buon Appetito Collection! Which of these adorable food friends is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
