Spellbinders- Cuckoo Cottage Collection

Today, I’m excited to share a versatile cardmaking project featuring the Spellbinders Cuckoo Cottage Collection. This collection, with its core die set and various seasonal add-ons, allows you to create unique and charming cards for any occasion.
The secret to these projects is the “bridge card” design. It folds flat for easy mailing but opens up into a beautiful, three-dimensional display. All four cards use the same basic foundation.
How to Make the Basic Bridge Card Base:
Cut a piece of cardstock to 5 1/2 inches by 5 3/4 inches.
On the longer 5 3/4-inch side, score at 3/4 inch and 1 1/2 inches from each end.
Fold along the scored lines in a zig-zag pattern: the two outer folds should be mountain folds, and the two inner folds should be valley folds.
1. The Festive Christmas Bridge Card
Get into the holiday spirit with this delightful Christmas bridge card! This card is crafted using the versatile Spellbinders Cuckoo Cottage Die Set, which forms the charming cuckoo clock. The background is a Pomegranate cardstock, adding a rich, classic holiday color that perfectly complements the wintry scene. This design is perfect for creating a dimensional card that will stand out on any mantle.
2. Whimsical Autumn Bridge Card
Celebrate the beauty of fall with this charming bridge card! The design is centered on a unique mushroom mansion clock, with a woodland fox and squirrel adorning the scene. The card’s rich texture and warm colors perfectly capture the cozy feeling of autumn.

Cardstock: Alabaster and Gold Metallic
Ink: Tea Dye-colored ink
Hot Foil: Gold
The card base is created from Alabaster cardstock and features a beautiful background embossed with the Oak Forest 3D Embossing Folder. Before attaching the embossed panel to the bridge card base, the paper was blended with tea dye-colored ink to bring out the detailed leaf texture. The main clock is die-cut with the Mushroom Mansion Die and customized with the clock face and hands from the Cuckoo Cottage Die Set. The card is further embellished with autumn leaves, a fox, and a squirrel, all from the Harvest Time Die Set. A striking accent is the pendulum, die-cut from Gold Metallic cardstock. The sentiment is a hot foiled message from the Cuckoo Cottage Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set, adding a touch of elegance to the finished card.
3. Classic Timeless Bridge Card
This elegant card proves that you don’t need many different sets to create a stunning project. Crafted exclusively with the Cuckoo Cottage Die Set, this card highlights the versatility of a single collection. The design features a classic cuckoo clock with a lovely sentiment, perfect for a friend who is “timeless.”

The card’s background is embossed with the Dimpled 3D Embossing Folder on Acorn cardstock and mounted on a Fawn cardstock base, giving it a subtle, rich texture. The cuckoo clock itself is a beautiful mix of colors, with a Tuscan roof, and the clock face made from Oceanside and Waterfall cardstocks. The clock hands and pendulum weights are die-cut from Gold Metallic cardstock, providing a touch of metallic shine.
A key to saving time on these cards is creating sentiments in bulk. The sentiment on this card, like all the others, was created by hot foiling a message from the Cuckoo Cottage Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set onto black cardstock with Matte Gold foil, allowing for a quick and easy way to add a polished finish to multiple cards at once.
4. Spooky Halloween Bridge Card
Get ready to send some spooky greetings with this adorable Halloween-themed bridge card! This fun project shows just how versatile the Cuckoo Cottage collection is. We’ve transformed a charming cuckoo clock into a haunted house, complete with ghosts, bats, and a black cat!

Cardstock: Lavender, Rainforest, Fog, and black
The card is built on a Lavender cardstock base, with the inner bridge panels embossed with the Cascading Steamers Embossing Folder on Rainforest cardstock to create a ghoulishly green background. The clock house is made from Fog cardstock walls, a bold black roof, and matching Lavender windows. The entire scene comes to life with all the spooky elements—the ghosts, pumpkins, bats, and cat—which are all from the Halloween Tick Tock Die Set. Just like with all the other cards, the sentiment was created with the Cuckoo Cottage Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set for a perfect finishing touch.
All four cards feature a beautifully crafted sentiment from the Cuckoo Cottage Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set, demonstrating how a single set can be used across multiple projects to save time and add a consistent, professional touch.
