A Cozy Christmas Kitty with Yana’s Collection
Hello, crafty friends! I’m back today with another card featuring the delightful Yana’s Christmas Cats Collection by Yana Smakula for Spellbinders.
While the previous cards captured the hilarious, chaotic energy of cats knocking down trees, this one presents a slightly more peaceful—and utterly adorable—holiday scene! Featuring a black-and-white kitty wearing a cozy red sweater standing proudly next to a beautifully decorated tree, this card combines festive elegance with sweet cat charm.
Here is a step-by-step look at how I created this project.
Gilded Frame & Soft Glow: I started by embossing a piece of white cardstock using the stunning A2 Ornate Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder by Yana Smakula. To give it a luxurious, regal touch, I hand-colored the raised outer frame using a gold metallic marker. Inside the framed panel, I softly ink-blended a subtle pool color to create a serene, icy backdrop.
Dressing the Tree: Next, I die-cut the Christmas tree from Rainforest cardstock using the Christmas Cats Accessories Etched Dies by Yana Smakula. I embellished the tree with die-cut gold glitter garland and added vibrant ornaments that I die-cut from white cardstock and hand-colored using markers for a custom palette.
Styling the Cozy Kitty: Using the Christmas Cats Etched Dies by Yana Smakula, I assembled a chic black-and-white cat. I gave him the ultimate winter upgrade by layering a bright red die-cut sweater and a matching Santa hat, then placed him right next to the tree stand and colorful gifts!
Matte Gold Sentiment: For the finishing touch, I hot-foiled the sentiment from the Meowy Christmas Sentiments Press + Foil Plates & Die Set by Yana Smakula onto white cardstock using elegant matte gold foil. I used the matching die to cut it out and popped it in place.
