Tropical Oceanside Aloha | Spellbinders June 2026 Large Die of the Month

Hello, crafty friends!

I am so thrilled to be back today with a lush, dimensional tropical card that is absolutely bursting with island color! For this project, I wanted to create a rich, high-contrast backdrop that makes the vibrant tropical flowers look like they are blooming right off the card page.

Here is a look at how I brought this rich, layered card to life!

Embossing the Oceanside Backdrop: I wanted a background that felt incredibly elegant and structured, so I started with a piece of deep, rich Oceanside cardstock. I embossed it using the Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder from the Yana’s Daisies Collection by Yana Smakula. The deep-set, molded frames on this cardstock provide a gorgeous, sophisticated border that beautifully contains our floral arrangement.

  • Creating the Tropical Blooms: Next, I die-cut the flowers and foliage using this month’s stunning Large Die of the Month Club kit, Tropical Blooms (DOML-JUN 26). To give the die-cut pieces realistic depth, I used blending brushes to softly ink-blend deeper gradients onto the petals and leaves.

  • Adding Hand-Drawn Highlights: To really make the flowers pop and give them a professional, hand-illustrated feel, I used a white gel pen to draw delicate highlight strokes on the hibiscus petals and lush tropical leaves. This simple touch adds an amazing level of detail!

  • Assembling with Dimensional Depth: I arranged the leaves and flowers on the embossed Oceanside background. To create a natural, organic look with plenty of shadows, I used foam stickers to pop up key flowers and leaves at varying heights, while adhering others flat to the card.

  • Stamping the Sentiment: For the greeting, I turned to the June Clear Stamp & Die Club set, This Way to Rainbows. I stamped “Aloha, SUNSHINE!” in crisp black ink, die-cut it with the coordinating die, and popped it up in the bottom right corner.

Finishing Touches: To complete the card with a touch of elegant sparkle, I scattered a few shiny gold embellishments around the floral cluster.

I love how the vibrant pinks, oranges, and greens look against the deep Oceanside blue background. Taking the extra step to ink-blend your die-cuts and add quick white gel pen highlights really elevates a flat die-cut into a work of art! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.
