Cruising Through the Desert Daytime with Classic Road Legends 2.0

I am back today with another fun card featuring the wonderful Classic Road Legends 2.0 Collection by Mindy Eggen from Spellbinders! For this card, I decided to stay true to the stencil’s original horizontal design to capture a beautiful, bright daytime cruise through the desert.

Using the Highway Horizons-Desert Layered Stencils by Mindy Eggen in its original horizontal orientation, I ink-blended a bright daytime scene. I used soft blues for the sky, a glowing yellow for the sun, and warm, sandy desert tones complete with striking terracotta-colored mesas and bright green cacti to set the perfect backdrop.

To frame this beautiful landscape, I die-cut a crisp white piece of cardstock using the Postage Edge Rectangles Etched Dies to create a decorative postage-edge frame, layering it directly over my stenciled background.

(Building the Sedan): For the featured vehicle, I used the Sedan Street Cruiser Etched Dies by Mindy Eggen. I die-cut the classic sedan from a gorgeous mix of Waterfall and Teal Topaz cardstock to give it a fresh, retro look. I added shiny silver metallic accents for the bumpers and wheels, assembled the car, and popped it up onto the desert road using foam stickers for brilliant dimension.

To finish the card, I stamped the fun sentiment “Have A Wheel-y Great Day!” from the Cruisin’ By Sentiments Clear Stamp & Die Set onto black cardstock. I coated it with white embossing powder, heat-set it with my heat tool, die-cut it, and attached it right above the sedan.
