Sky-High Elegance: Glad You’re Along
I love how versatile the May 2026 Spellbinders Press & Foil Club (Up & Away) set is! While my previous project focused on vibrant, colorful markers, this one leans into a sophisticated, moody aesthetic that I am absolutely obsessed with.
To create this look, I started by hot foiling the Up & Away design onto Cascade cardstock using Matte Silver foil. The contrast of the silver against that deep, cool cardstock is already stunning, but I took it a step further by ink blending over the top. Using a deep Sapphire ink, I blended around the design, which makes the foiled balloons and clouds seem to glow from within the night sky.
The sentiment, “Glad You’re Along,” is also from the same Club set. I pressed it using the BetterPress system with matching ink, die-cut it, and used foam adhesive to pop it up, allowing it to float gracefully over the balloons. To finish the look, I added a few silver embellishments that pick up the shine from the foil and add that perfect touch of sparkle.
Step-by-Step Process
Step 1: Hot foil the Up & Away plate onto Cascade cardstock using Matte Silver foil.
Step 2: Use a blending brush and Sapphire ink to deepen the background, working around the foiled images to create a “night sky” effect.
Step 3: Using the BetterPress system, press the sentiment onto coordinating cardstock and die-cut it.
Step 4: Adhere the sentiment to the card panel using foam adhesive for dimension.
Step 5: Strategically place silver embellishments across the card to catch the light and unify the metallic elements.
This “night sky” look completely transforms the design into something so elegant and dreamy. It’s a wonderful reminder that a simple change in color palette and a little ink blending can give the same stamp or plate a whole new personality. Thank you so much for following along with my May projects!
