Vibrant Birthday Card with Spellbinders Poppy Song Collection

Today, I’m excited to share a vibrant birthday card featuring the beautiful Poppy Song Collection by Spellbinders. This collection perfectly harmonizes floral beauty with musical elements. I wanted to create a high-contrast look that pairs a soft, textured background with bold, energetic blooms for a truly “popping” effect.

Creating the Musical Background: I began by dry embossing a piece of Seaside Cardstock using the Spellbinders Favorite Song 3D Embossing Folder. The detailed musical notes create a lovely, rhythmic texture for our backdrop.

Die-Cutting the Focal Frame: For the center panel, I used the Playful Stitched Panels (part of the same collection) to die-cut a white backdrop. The delicate stitching adds a professional, finished touch to the card’s design.

  • Assembling the Floral Elements: Using the Leaf & Bloom die set, I cut the petals from Blush and Wild Berry cardstock. For the stems, I used a mix of Mint, Rainforest, and Fern cardstock. To create a deep contrast with the bright berry tones, I colored the Fern stems with a dark green marker.

  • Finishing Touches on the Poppies: The flower centers were die-cut from white cardstock and colored with green markers. I then used a white gel pen to add tiny dots, providing intricate detail and life to each flower.

  • The Sentiment: The “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” greeting is from the Very Best Wishes Sentiments set. I white heat-embossed the sentiment onto Raven Cardstock and die-cut it to create a crisp, bold look that stands out perfectly against the flowers.

I love how the bold colors of this Spellbinders collection come together to create such a cheerful message. The contrast between the deep green stems and the vibrant Wild Berry cardstock really makes the poppies sing!

Happy Crafting, Heejung
