Sunshine & Good Times: A Hedgehog’s Kayak Adventure
Ready for a peaceful day on the water? Today, I’m sharing the third card in my summer series, featuring the sweetest little hedgehog from the Woodland Trio die set. This project brings together the tranquility of a lakeside morning and the fun of a summer outing. There’s something so charming about a tiny hedgehog in a life jacket, and I hope this card brings a bit of “Sunshine & Good Times” to your day!
Stenciling the Scene: I used the Lake Side Stencils to build the entire background. I layered different shades of green for the rolling hills and pine trees, a bright yellow for the sun, and soft blues for the sky and the shimmering water. This stencil set makes it so easy to create a professional-looking landscape!
The Kayaking Hedgehog: The star of the card is the hedgehog from the Woodland Trio set. To get him ready for the water, I used the Splash Days die set to create his vibrant orange life jacket and his trusty kayak and paddle.
Building Dimension: I carefully layered the kayak and the hedgehog over the stenciled background using foam adhesive to give the scene a 3D effect, making it look like he’s just about to push off from the sandy shore.
The Sentiment: I chose the “SUNSHINE & GOOD TIMES” sentiment from the Summertime Sentiments stamp set. I stamped it in crisp black ink and die-cut it into a clean strip to maintain the bright, airy feel of the card.
This card was such a joy to assemble, especially seeing the little hedgehog come to life in his summer gear. Combining stencils with these playful dies is a great way to create a full story on a small canvas. I’m having so much fun finishing up these summer projects before my trip!
