Spellbinders September Club Kits: Whimsical Owl Fall Cards featuring “Owl Be There”
Hello crafting friends! Today, I’m sharing two cozy autumn cards featuring the adorable Spellbinders September Small Die of the Month Kit, “Owl Be There,” paired with the stunning Autumn Bark 3D Embossing Folder. These cute owls and textured woodgrain elements are perfect for warm fall greetings!
Night Sky Owl Card
For the first card, I wanted to create a whimsical night sky scene starring the sweet owl from the Owl Be There Small Die of the Month Kit.
Night Sky Background: I took a piece of Seaside cardstock and blended blue inks around the edges to create a glowing night sky effect. I flicked water droplets over the ink blending with a water spray bottle to add texture and subtle stars.
Die-Cutting: I die-cut all the owl components, leaves, moon, and stars using the Small Die Kit, then assembled the owl perched on a tree stump.
Sentiment: I stamped the sentiment “Hello Fall” using VersaMark ink, heat embossed it with gold embossing powder, and die-cut it with the coordinating die.
Assembly & Details: I adhered the owl, tree stump, leaves, and sentiment onto the blended background using foam adhesive for dimension. To finish, I added shiny opal gems for extra sparkle.
Tree Hollow Owl Card
For the second card, I created a fun dimensional tree hollow frame using the Autumn Bark 3D Embossing Folder.
Creating the Hollow: On Acorn cardstock, I first cut an oval window in the center using the Fresh Picked Labels and Tag Die Set (a retired favorite!). Next, I ran the cardstock through the die-cutting machine with the Autumn Bark 3D Embossing Folder to add deeply detailed woodgrain texture.
Hollow Frame Details: I cut a matching oval frame out of Fawn cardstock using the same die. I drew wood rings along the frame edge with a marker to make it look like a natural tree opening.
Background & Shading: Behind the window opening, I layered Raven cardstock for depth. I lightly ink-blended the edges of the embossed Acorn panel with dark ink to accentuate the wood bark texture.
Assembly: I mounted the bark panel over the Raven cardstock using foam tape. Inside the tree hollow, I tucked in the die-cut owl surrounded by vibrant fall leaves.
Sentiment: Using Raven cardstock, I heat embossed the sentiment “Grateful, Thankful & Extra Full” in gold embossing powder using the Clear Stamp & Die of the Month set, die-cut it, and attached it near the bottom of the card.
