Vintage Vinyl Birthday Cards with Hero Arts

I am so excited to share these vintage vinyl-inspired birthday cards today! Hero Arts released an add-on series to their popular Vintage Vinyl Collection back in July. Last fall, I missed out on the original release because I was traveling, but this collection was far too good to pass up—so as soon as my order arrived, I couldn’t wait to craft with it!

Drop the Needle Vinyl Birthday Card

Card Base: Created a fresh mint cardstock base.

Vinyl Record: Die-cut the large record element from black glitter cardstock (from the Spellbinders Onyx Assorted Treasured Cardstock pack).

Tonearm & Switch: Die-cut the tonearm/needle using Waterfall and white cardstock. The dial switch was die-cut using Waterfall and black cardstock.

  • Record Label & Sentiments: For the top half of the center label, used Dahlia cardstock and heat-embossed “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” in white using the Hero Arts Solid Gold Stamp Set. For the bottom half, stamped the tracklist sentiment in black ink on Blush cardstock.

 

Interactive Spinning Record Player Card

  • Card Dimensions: The finished dimensional card base measures 4.5″ x 4.25″. When collapsed flat to fit inside a standard envelope, it measures 4.5″ x 5″.

  • Interactive Player Body: Cut a piece of mint cardstock to 10.5″ x 4.5″ and scored at 0.5″, 1″, 5.5″, and 10″. Folding along these score lines forms the 3D record player body structure.

Spinning Record & Label: Die-cut the vinyl record from black mirror metallic cardstock (from the Spellbinders Onyx Assorted Treasured Cardstock pack) using the Hero Arts Record Collection Die Set. Heat-embossed the curved sentiment in white onto Dahlia cardstock using the Hero Arts Vintage Vinyl Stamp Set from the July release and mounted it on the record center.

Spinning Mechanism: Attached a Spellbinders Card Spinner mechanism underneath the record so it spins freely. To allow smooth rotation without catching, doubled-up foam adhesive was placed under the needle, ensuring it straddles the outer rim of the record without touching the spinning area.
