Tropical Flower Basket Pop-Up Card with Simon Hurley’s Rattan Cane Texture
Hello, crafty friends! I am back with another exciting project featuring the Timeless Textures collection by Simon Hurley. Following up on my recent daisy series, today I am thrilled to share a dimensional tropical flower basket card. For this project, I paired the incredible Rattan Cane 3D Embossing Folder by Simon Hurley with the gorgeous June 2026 Spellbinders Club Kits to create a stunning, realistic woven basket bursting with vibrant blooms.
Crafting the Rattan Basket Structure & Accordion Layers
Start by die-cutting four panels of Fawn cardstock using the Notched Corner Dies. Trim these panels down to a height of 3 inches to create the perfect shape for your flower basket.
Take the front and back panels of your basket structure and run them through your die-cutting machine inside the Rattan Cane 3D Embossing Folder. To make the woven pattern truly pop and give it an authentic look, gently blend a brown shading ink over the raised embossed details.
The Accordion Mechanism: To create the dimensional layers inside the basket, cut two side pieces of cardstock to 3.5 inches wide by 2.5 inches high. Score these pieces at 1/2-inch intervals to create accordion folds.
Attach the four basket layers to the accordion side folds, spacing them out perfectly to build the deep, multi-layered structure that will hold all your flowers.
Creating the Tropical Flowers & Greenery
Hibiscus & Foliage: Use the June 2026 Large Die of the Month Club kit, Tropical Blooms (DOML-JUN 26), to die-cut the lush elements. Die-cut the stunning hibiscus flowers using Poppy and Beeswax cardstock, and create the tropical leaves using Rainforest and Fern cardstock.
Plumeria Flowers: For the accent flowers, use the coordinating plumeria dies from the June 2026 Stamp and Die of the Month Club kit, Luau Beats (DOMST-JUN 26).
Stamping the Sentiment
For the perfect tropical greeting, select the “Aloha, Sunshine” sentiment from the June 2026 Clear Stamp and Die of the Month Club kit, This Way to Rainbows (CDOM-JUN 26).
Stamp the sentiment and heat emboss it using Gold embossing powder for a touch of elegant shine.
Die-cut the sentiment using the Documenting Label Dies and set it aside.
Assembly & Finishing Touches
Arrange and layer your die-cut tropical leaves, hibiscus, and plumerias within the four internal layers of your assembled accordion basket, creating a full and lush bouquet.
Finally, adhere your beautifully embossed gold sentiment label to the front of the rattan basket using foam stickers for added dimension.
I absolutely love how realistic the Rattan Cane 3D Embossing Folder looks when paired with the dimensional accordion structure and the vibrant June Club Kits! It is the perfect way to bring a warm, tropical breeze into your craft room. Thank you so much for stopping by today. I would love to hear your thoughts on this dimensional basket card in the comments below! Have a wonderful, crafty day, and see you in the next post!
