You’re a Reel Catch: A Lakeside Summer Memory
Captured a perfect summer moment! Today, I’m sharing a card that feels like a cherished vacation snapshot. Using the April 3D Embossing Folder and a mix of adorable die sets, I created this lakeside scene featuring a fishing squirrel. This card is all about those sunny days spent by the water, and the polaroid-style layout adds such a nostalgic, playful touch to the design.
Textured Background: I started by embossing Waterfall cardstock with the Market Crate 3D Embossing Folder (the April 3D Embossing Folder of the Month). The woodgrain-like texture provides the perfect rustic backdrop for a summer theme.
The Photo Frame: To create the “snapshot” look, I used the Memory Frames Etched Dies from the Say Cheese Classic Pooh Collection. I stamped the sentiment “YOU’RE A REEL CATCH” from the Summertime Sentiments set directly onto the bottom of the frame.
Lakeside Scene: Inside the frame, I created a serene background using the Lakeside Stencils. It adds beautiful layers of water, hills, and a bright sun to the small space.
The Adorable Fisherman: The star of the show is the squirrel from the Woodland Trio die set. I dressed him up in a yellow sun hat from the Camp Days die set and gave him a fishing rod from the Splash Days set, complete with a little blue fish!
Finishing Touches: For a realistic look, I die-cut a bright red thumbtack using the Push Pin Notes die and “pinned” the frame to the textured background. This small detail really brings the whole “memory photo” concept to life.
I hope this card brings a smile to your face and reminds you of your favorite summer adventures. Mixing different collections like the Say Cheese and Summer Camp sets allows for so much creativity! I have a few more projects to share before my trip to Korea, so please stay tuned.
Happy crafting!
