Sweet Treats with Mid Century Assemblage

Hello! I’m back with one more card as we continue to explore the Simon Says Stamp February New Release. This time, I’m combining a brand-new geometric texture with some of the sweetest critters you’ve ever seen!

The Foundation:

I started with a vibrant backdrop using Spellbinders Teal Topaz cardstock to set a colorful tone for the entire card.

The Textured Background:

I cut a piece of white cardstock to 4 X 5.25 inches and ran it through my machine with the new Simon Says Stamp Mid Century Assemblage Embossing Folder (sf555).

Ink Blending:

To make the texture pop, I applied Pool color ink for some beautiful shading. I kept the center lighter so the stamped images would remain the focal point, while concentrating the ink on the edges for a framed look.

The Characters:

I featured the adorable Sweet Treat Critters set from last month’s release. I stamped them in black ink and colored them with markers. For that extra sparkle, I used a white gel pen to add highlights to the treats and critters.

Assembly:

To give the card more dimension, I attached the colored images using foam stickers, creating a fun, 3D effect.

The mix of the modern, structured background with the whimsical, hand-colored critters creates such a fun balance!

I hope this card inspires you to look at your embossing folders in a new way. They are perfect for adding instant interest to any scene!

Happy Crafting!
