Exploring the Spellbinders Block Print Zodiacs Collection

Hello, everyone! Following my guest post on the Spellbinders blog, I wanted to share even more magic from the Block Print Zodiacs Collection. This collection has captured my heart with its artistic, woodblock-style designs.

For these three cards, I focused on the stunning effects of Hot Foiling. There is something so satisfying about the way the metallic foil catches the light against deep, rich cardstock.

Regal Virgo

For the first design, I focused on a regal gold-on-blue theme with elegant architectural details.

Focal Point: I hot foiled the Block Print Virgo Registration Press + Foil Plate onto Cosmic Sky Cardstock using gold Hot Foil.

The Arch Frame:

To add a sophisticated touch, I die-cut the Arch Punch & Pierce Plate Etched Dies from Gold Metal Cardstock. I used foam stickers to mount the frame, giving the card beautiful dimension and a high-end feel.

Sentiment: I used the BetterPress system to create a crisp, professional sentiment, then die-cut it and placed it across the arch frame.

Finishing Touches: I completed the look with Gold Embellishments to match the shimmering foil.

Vibrant Leo

Next, I wanted to showcase the bold energy of Leo with a playful splash of color and a unique window design.

Leo Focal Image:

I hot foiled the Block Print Leo Registration Press + Foil Plate focal image onto white cardstock using Rainbow Hot Foil. To make the image pop, I softly blended Matcha Tea Ink around the foiled design with a blending brush.

Circle Window Panel:

I used Cascade Cardstock for the top panel. Before die-cutting the circle window, I hot foiled the “Leo” text plate using Matte Silver Hot Foil.

Floral Accents: I used the flower dies from the “Hummingbirds Delight” Large Die of the Month set. The leaves were die-cut from Rainforest Cardstock, and I colored the white cardstock petals with grey and yellow markers.

Assembly: I tucked the flowers behind the circle window and attached the entire panel to the Leo base using foam stickers for a layered, dimensional look.

Dreamy Gemini

The final card features Gemini, set against a soft, imaginative sky filled with clouds.

Gemini Focal Image:

I hot foiled the Block Print Gemini Registration Press + Foil Plate image onto Cascade Cardstock using Prism Hot Foil.

Creating the Night Sky:

To deepen the scene, I blended Sapphire and Dark Night inks around the edges of the image to create a mystical night sky.

Cloudy Layers:

I used the Landscape Edges Dies to create the soft cloud edges on white cardstock. For the sentiment, I hot foiled the Gemini Registration Press + Foil Plate sentiment plate onto the white cardstock using Moondust Hot Foil.

Final Details:

I die-cut stars and additional clouds using the Tunnel Clouds Etched Dies and arranged them around the twins. I finished the card with Crystal Gems for a touch of starlight.

Creating these zodiac cards has been such a journey through the stars. Each plate in this collection offers so much detail and texture, making the foiling process a total joy. I hope these designs inspire you to create something celestial for the special people in your life!

Happy Crafting!
