Bold & Beautiful Poppies | Spellbinders January 2026 Stencil of the Month
Hello crafty friends!
Today I’m sharing my fifth project for January, featuring the stunning Stencil of the Month (SOM). There’s something so timeless about poppies, and this month’s design is truly “perfection.”

🎨 How to Make This Card
1. Detailed Stencil Coloring (The Star of the Card!) The most important part of this card is the vibrant poppy field. I used the “Poppy Perfection” stencils on Alabaster cardstock with a beautiful mix of inks:
The Poppies: I layered the petals using the Altenew Red Sunset Fresh Ink set (Rouge, Crimson, Velvet) and added a touch of Distress Mini Ink in Spiced Marmalade for that perfect warm glow.
The Centers: For the flower centers, I used black and gray inks to create a realistic look.
Stems & Leaves: I chose the Altenew Frosted Foliage Fresh Dye ink set (Jade, Forest Fern) to get those lush, deep green tones.
To add a bold, glossy touch, I used black enamel dots for the flower centers and scattered a few more around the blooms for extra detail.
2. Designing the Elegant Frame The frame is the real showstopper here! I used the All-Clubs Crate Exclusive Die to create the ornate outline and the Labels 8 Die for the center window. I chose a matte black specialty cardstock, which gives the card a luxurious, velvety feel and makes the red poppies pop.
3. The Sentiment I foiled “GREETINGS BY POST” in Matte Gold Hot Foil on Indigo cardstock using the Press & Foil Plate of the Month. After die-cutting it, I attached it using foam strips to give it some lift.
I love how the matte black frame creates such a dramatic look for these stenciled poppies. Using a mix of Altenew and Distress inks really helped bring out the “Poppy Perfection” in this set!
