A Golden Stitch | Spellbinders January 2026 Stitching Die of the Month

Hello crafty friends!

I’m back with the Spellbinders Club project for January, and this one is truly special. It features the Stitching Die of the Month (DOMST), and I had so much fun adding texture with some simple needlework.

🎨 How to Make This Card

1. The Textured Sky Background For the background, I used the EOM (Cloud Nine) folder on Seaside cardstock. The soft blue texture creates the perfect breezy sky for our butterfly to dance in.

2. Stitched Butterfly Detail The star of the show is the “Butterfly Dance” die. I die-cut the wings from Cascade and Cosmic Sky cardstock. I then used bright yellow thread to stitch the delicate patterns on the wings, finishing the ends with gold embellishments for a touch of luxury.

3. Creating the Black-eyed Susans

  • Petals: Die-cut from Beeswax cardstock. I used a blending brush to add some soft shading for depth.

  • Centers: I used Truffle cardstock to create that classic dark center.

  • Stems & Leaves: All the greenery was die-cut from Rainforest cardstock to create a lush garden feel.

4. The Finishing Touch I used the CDOM (Best Year Sentiments) for the “You’re One of a Kind” sentiment. I stamped it in black ink on white cardstock and die-cut it with the matching die to nestle it right among the flowers.

There’s something so therapeutic about stitching on paper. The combination of the yellow thread and the Beeswax flowers makes this card feel so warm and sunny!

I hope this “Butterfly Dance” inspires you to pick up a needle and thread for your next project.

Happy Crafting,
