A Cut Above the Rest: Honoring Sharon with the New Spellbinders Die Set

 

I’m excited to share a card I made today using the brand new Sharon’s Scissors die set from Spellbinders. This set is part of their August release, and it’s truly special.

This collection of six thin metal dies is perfect for creating an adorable pair of scissors with heart-shaped finger grips. What makes this set so meaningful is that it also includes two sentiment strips that combine to say, “You’re Always In My Heart.”

This set is more than just a beautiful die. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to the American Heart Association in honor of Sharon, a remarkable woman who was a true “cut above the rest.” She was known for her warm, infectious smile and her love of papercrafting. As a long-standing store owner, instructor, and mentor, Sharon played a vital role in the paper craft industry. Her warmth and kindness will always hold a special place in our hearts.

How I Made This Card

 

Here’s a step-by-step guide to how I created this tribute card:

  1. First, I trimmed a piece of Bellini Cardstock to 4 x 5 1/2 inches.

  2. Next, I used the Lined Circle Embossing Folder to create the subtle embossed pattern on the background. Then, I used a blending brush to color the edges with coral ink.

  3. I used the Vivid Blooms Die Set to die-cut the flowers and colored each one individually.

  4. Using the Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals Die Set, I die-cut an oval from white cardstock. I arranged the flowers on top of the oval and attached the entire piece to the background with foam adhesive for dimension.

  5. For the scissors, I die-cut them using silver metallic cardstock and black cardstock.

  6. The sentiment strips were die-cut from indigo cardstock using the same die set as the scissors, and then they were attached to the card.

  7. As a finishing touch, I die-cut the heart from the scissor handle shape using blush cardstock and added it to the card as an accent.
