Spellbinders- DOM JUL 25 (DOMST, CDOM)

Welcome, crafty friends!

Today, get ready to dive into the exciting world of paper crafting with the Spellbinders July 2025 Die Club of the Month. This month’s Small Die Club is absolutely delightful, offering charming dies that allow you to create adorable mug-shaped cards, perfect for spreading festive cheer! If you’re new to card making or looking for fresh inspiration, this post will walk you through three unique card designs, showcasing how various Spellbinders club kits can be combined to create stunning results.

Reindeer Mug Card

This whimsical card features the beloved reindeer mug design from the July Small Die Club

Textured Background: The foundation of this card is a beautifully textured background. This was achieved by using this month’s Embossing Folder Club. Simply run A2 size windy cardstock through your die-cutting machine with the embossing folder to create this intricate pattern. Notably, the bottom portion of the card was intentionally left unembossed to provide a smooth area for stamping the sentiment. For this card, Spellbinders Windy cardstock was chosen to give a cool, wintery feel.

  • Assembling the Reindeer Mug: The reindeer mug pieces were die-cut from various shades of Truffle, Fawn and Poppy cardstock using the July Small Die Club. These pieces were then carefully layered and adhered together to form the adorable mug. For the whipped cream detail on top of the mug, the base layer was first color-blended with pink ink to give it a soft, rosy hue. Then, another layer of the cream die was die-cut and adhered on top, adding wonderful dimension and texture to the “whipped cream” effect. forget the cute peppermint stick detail and the striped scarf (Ocean Waterfall card Stock), which add extra charm!

Adding the Sentiment: A heartwarming phrase, “sending you cozy hugs & cocoa kisses,” was stamped directly onto the smooth, unembossed bottom portion of the background using a sentiment stamp from the Stamp & Die Club. This adds the perfect finishing touch to the reindeer’s cozy scene.

The card was then beautifully finished with a scattering of silver embellishment for an extra touch of sparkle.

Penguin Mug Card

Next, we have an endearing penguin mug card, also created with the versatile July Small Die Club. This card introduces a fun hot foiling technique for its background.

Shimmering Hot Foiled Background: The vibrant, eye-catching background was created using a clever hot foiling technique. First, a piece of white cardstock was hot foiled with the BetterPress July Plate using a beautiful Teal color from the Satin Pastels variety pack. This process creates a stunning “positive” design on the first piece of cardstock and leaves a “negative” impression on the leftover foil. That very same leftover foil was then used with the Solid Rectangle Essential Glimmer Hot Plate to create a second, unique hot foiled background. The background featured on this specific card is the one created using the Solid Rectangle Essential Glimmer Hot Plate with the leftover foil, giving it a distinct, shimmering look.

Building the Penguin Mug: The adorable penguin mug was die-cut from brushed black cardstock (for a subtle shimmering texture), white, Saffron, Muberry, and Lavendar cardstock using the July Small Die Club. Each piece was carefully layered to build the charming penguin, complete with its own striped mug.( Teal Topaz and waterfall card stock)

To add dimension and visual interest, white cardstock and Mulberry cardstock were die-cut using the Essential Stylish Ovals die. These ovals were then adhered on top of the hot-foiled background. Finally, the assembled penguin mug was attached to these layered ovals using foam adhesive for added pop and dimension.

Stamping the Sentiment: The sentiment, “a cup of cheer just for you,” was stamped onto a white cardstock strip using a stamp from the Stamp & Die Club in dark teal colored ink. This strip was then adhered below the penguin mug, perfectly complementing the festive theme.

Santa Mug Card Tutorial

Rounding out our festive set is a cheerful Santa mug card, another fantastic design from the July Small Die Club. This card showcases a unique stitched background.

Intricate Stitched Background: The background on this card features an intricate stitched pattern, which was achieved using a die from this month’s Stitch Die Club. This die creates beautiful stitched details directly onto your cardstock, adding texture and visual interest without needing to emboss. A piece of Windy cardstock was chosen to create a vibrant base.

Crafting the Santa Mug: The jolly Santa mug was die-cut using various cardstocks. Specifically, Poppy cardstock was utilized for Santa’s iconic red clothes, the fluffy white trim (often referred to as “cream” or “snowy trim”) on his beard, as well as the mug’s handle. Bellini cardstock was used for his rosy cheeks and face. Layering these die-cut pieces brings Santa’s cheerful character to life.

The sentiment “HOLIDAY CHEER” was hot foiled in white onto poppy (red) cardstock using a plate from this month’s BetterPress Club. After foiling, it was die-cut with the coordinating die. And attached it with foam stickers. To complete this festive card, clear gems were adhered onto the stitched background, adding a lovely sparkle and finishing touch.
