Cozy Book-Shaped Gift Cards | Hero Arts August 2026 Release
Happy August, crafting friends! Today I’m so excited to share two interactive projects featuring the Hero Arts August 2026 My Monthly Hero & Super Hero Add-ons! If you love cozy, book-inspired crafts, you are going to fall head over heels for this month’s release.
Today, I created two realistic book-shaped cards using the fantastic Big Book Die Set and Super Hero Add-ons. Not only do they look like gorgeous vintage hardcover books on the outside, but inside they feature clever pockets that can hold real bookmarks or gift cards!
Floral Stenciled Book Card
Card Base Construction: I folded a piece of white cardstock in half and used the book die from the Big Book Die Set slightly overlapping the folded edge so the top crease wouldn’t be cutβthis is the secret to creating the opening book card base!
Book Spine & Pages: I die-cut the outer book cover from Oceanside cardstock and adhered it over the white base. For the page edges along the top and side, I used Alabaster cardstock to give it that realistic paper page texture.
Patterned Cover & Gold Accents: I blended a pretty floral pattern onto Seaside cardstock using the Classic Floral Layering Stencil Set and die-cut it with the book cover die. To elevate the vintage feel, I added die-cut borders using Gold Metallic cardstock along the spine and cover edges.
Sentiment & Bookmark: I die-cut a white oval panel for the center. Next, I stamped a sentiment from the Novel Greetings Stamp & Cut set onto white cardstock using VersaMark ink, heat embossed it with gold embossing powder, die-cut it, and layered it on top. For the top bookmark accent, I used Dahlia cardstock paired with a Gold Metallic tassel die-cut.
Interior Pocket: To make this card extra special, I used the Library Card & Pocket Die Set to cut a pocket out of Mint cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the card. It’s the perfect spot to tuck in a real bookmark, note, or gift card!
Classic Purple Monochrome Book Card
Book Base & Cover: Using the same partial die-cutting technique with the Big Book Die Set on the folded white base, I created the outer book cover using vibrant Lilac cardstock for a bold, classic hardcover look.
Embossed Sentiment Centerpiece: I stamped “A LIFETIME OF Thank Yous” from the Novel Greetings Stamp & Cut set onto Lavender cardstock using VersaMark ink, heat embossed it with white embossing powder, and die-cut the centerpiece using the frame die from the Big Book Die Set.
Bookmark Accents: To top off the book, I die-cut a bookmark insert using Mint cardstock paired with a Mulberry cardstock tassel accent sticking out from the top pages.
Interior Pocket: Just like the first card, I added a custom pocket inside to easily slip in a gift card or bookmark gift!
