Father’s Day Cards with Vintage Book Vibes | Spellbinders 3D Embossing Folder Club – May 2025

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to honor the dads in your life than with a handmade card filled with classic charm and thoughtful detail? Today, I’m excited to share two unique Father’s Day cards created with the Spellbinders 3D Embossing Folder Club of May 2025, beautifully coordinated with other Club kits and sentiment sets for a refined, masculine finish.

Both designs center around the nostalgic look of vintage books—perfect for the dads who love to read, reflect, or appreciate timeless style.

🛠️ Supplies Used:

  1. 3D Embossing Folder Club – May 2025 (Bookshelf Design)

  2. Classic Tale – Large Die of the Month, March 2024

  3. Small Die of the Month – May 2025 (Reading Glasses)

  4. Mother’s & Father’s Day Sentiments Press Plate Set

  5. Ideal Moments Press Plate Set

  6. Gold Foil (Matte Gold) + Hot Foil System

  7. Gold Metallic Markers

  8. Colored Cardstock (assorted shades for book spines)

  9. Black Cardstock (for sentiment foiling)

✂️ Card 1 – Layered Bookshelf Design

Emboss & Color:

Emboss several different colors of cardstock using the 3D embossing folder. I used muted, masculine tones like Evergreen, Acorn, Indigo, Truffle, and Anchor. After embossing, I enhanced the embossed designs with gold metallic markers to highlight details like stitching, floral flourishes, and geometric patterns.

Cut & Assemble Books:
I cut each embossed panel into individual book spine segments. Then, I layered and adhered them together like stacked books, creating a custom bookshelf look across the card front.

Sentiment:

I hot-foiled “Happy Father’s Day” in gold onto black cardstock using the Ideal Moments Press Plate, then trimmed it to a clean strip and placed it on one of the book “spines.”

📖 Card 2 – Classic Tale Style with Reading Glasses

Scene Building:
This card uses the same embossed, gold-accented books as a backdrop, but I added dimension using the Classic Tale die set from March 2024 to create an open book. This element really makes the card feel like a thoughtful narrative.

Reading Glasses Detail:
The reading glasses from the May 2025 Small Die of the Month were die-cut in gold cardstock and layered over the open book for a realistic touch.

Sentiment Finishing:
Using the Mother’s Father’s Day Sentiments Press Plate, I hot-foiled “Happy Father’s Day” in gold and used it as a sentiment strip to finish the scene with elegance.
