Playful Panda Birthday Card with Upright Italic Sentiments

Today, I’m sharing another creation from the Upright Italic Everyday Sentiments Collection by Paul Antonio—a delightful and interactive birthday card! This design features a cheerful panda and beautiful gold foiling against a textured background.

Creating the Background:

The card base is created with Waterfall cardstock. I used the Puffy Hearts 3D Embossing Folder to add a deep, embossed pattern of hearts. To give it more depth and a stunning gradient, I applied Pool color ink using a blending brush, creating a beautiful transition.

Foiling the Sentiment:

I took the Upright Italic Happy Birthday Press + Foil Plate (from the Upright Italic Everyday Sentiments Collection) and hot foiled it onto white cardstock using Matte Gold Hot Foil.

Die-Cutting and Layering:

  • The hot foiled sentiment was precisely cut out using the Square Infinity Dies.

  • To add a delicate touch and separate the sentiment from the busy background, I created a backdrop by cutting a slightly larger square from Tutu cardstock using the same die set.

The Adorable Panda:

The playful panda peeking out was created by die-cutting Birthday Bear Etched Diesit’s such a fun element! I added the cute party hat for the final festive look.

Finishing Touches:

To finish the card with lots of sparkle, I added two types of sequins: Aura Opalescent Color Essentials Sequins and Chameleon Opalescent Color Essentials Sequins, scattering them across the background.

I love how the elegant script of the Upright Italic sentiment contrasts with the whimsical and playful panda element. Using 3D embossing and gradient inking adds so much dimension to this cheerful birthday card.

Happy Crafting, Heejung
