Simon Says Stamp Detail Leafy Wreath – October New Release

Hello, crafty friends! 🍃

Simon Says Stamp’s October release is full of pretty Christmas goodies, and I made four cards with the new products. Each card has a very different style, so I will share them one at a time. Here is the first one!

Background:

I started with indigo cardstock and embossed it with the Mid Century Assemblage embossing folder. This folder is not part of the new release — it is one of my all-time favorites, and I reach for it again and again.

Focal images:

The star of this card is October’s Detail Leafy Wreath Wafer Dies (1717sd). It is only one die, but it takes quite a few steps!

First, I embossed the wreath onto white cardstock so the leaf outlines showed, then I colored each leaf with a detail brush in different shades of green and teal.

Next, I die-cut along the embossed lines. I die-cut the wreath three more times from white cardstock, stacked the layers for dimension, and placed each colored leaf back on top — like putting together a puzzle. It sounds like a lot of work, but it came together faster than I expected. (The October release also includes a coordinating stencil for this die, but I wanted to try coloring it my own way this time.)

Sentiment:

After adhering the wreath to the embossed background, I added red gems, then trimmed the “A JOYFUL HOLIDAY” strip from October’s EZ Strips Christmastime (1045ez) and adhered it across the wreath to finish.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I will be back soon with the second card from the October release.

Happy Crafting, Heejung 💕
