Spellbinders- Sky’s the Limited by Simon Hurley Collection

Today I’m excited to share two uplifting cards I created featuring the Sky’s the Limit Collection by Spellbinders. These bright, cheerful designs are perfect for sending love, encouragement, or just a sweet hello.

Each card is filled with playful elements like colorful kites, rainbows, clouds, and heartfelt sentiments—plus some fun textures and dimension thanks to the amazing tools in this collection.

Let’s jump into the step-by-step instructions!

Flying by to Say Hi 🪁☁️

Supplies:

  1. Flying Kites 3D Embossing Folder

  2. Fly a Kite Dies

  3. Layered Flying Kites Stencil

  4. Tunnel Clouds Die

  5. Soaring Sentiments Press Plate + Die Set

  6. White,  Rainforest, Fern, and Fairy Tale, Lilac Card stock.

  7. Foam tape

How to Make It:

  1. Create the kite scene:
    Use the Layered Flying Kites Stencil to blend colorful kites onto your cardstock. Add texture with the Flying Kites 3D Embossing Folder for a lively, realistic look.

  2. Frame the scene:
    Cut a window using the Tunnel Clouds Die and layer it over the kite background with foam tape to create depth.

  3. Add movement:
    Cut the kites using the “Fly a Kite” die. Attach kite strings and bows for added playful dimension.

  4. Finish with a sentiment:
    Press and die cut the “Flying by to say hi” sentiment from the Soaring Sentiments Press Plate, and add it to the front with foam squares.

Lifting You Up with Love 🌈💛

Supplies:

  1. Up and Away Die

  2. Over the Rainbow Die

  3. Soaring Sentiments Press Plate + Die Set

  4. Landscape Edge die

  5. Soft pastel cardstock: Coral, Seaside, Rainforest, Beewax, Cosmic Sky, Poppy, Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Blush, Tutu.

  6. Foam tape

How to Make It:

  1. Blend the sky:
    Lightly ink blend a soft blue background to create the sky.

  2. Create the rainbow:
    Die cut and layer the rainbow using the Over the Rainbow Die in soft, bright pastels.

  3. Build the landscape:
    Using the Landscape Edges die on rainforest cardstock, add hills of green cardstock at the bottom to create a grassy field.

  4. Assemble the boy and kites:
    Die cut the boy and kites, using the Up and Away die on fun, playful colors. Arrange them so it looks like he’s holding the kite string soaring into the rainbow.

  5. Finish with a sentiment:
    Press and die cut “Lifting you up with love” from the Soaring Sentiments Press Plate, and place it near the top for a perfectly uplifting message.
